The 2012 and up Jeep JK wrangler fan on the 3.6L Pentastar has a few key characteristics: It is an Outrunner motor design. This doesn’t have much bearing on diagnosing problems, but it’s a key difference from the more traditional fan designs in the earlier Jeep JKs. Put new Mopar thermostat in, and the JK still runs at 220 on average. Took JK to my other mechanic. He did some research and found that drilling a 1/8" hole in thermostat will allow Jeep to run cooler. Decided to drill hole. The Jeep is still running hot. About 220. Took the JK back to the dealer.
