Since its founding, GBMC has been fortunate to attract dedicated, committed volunteers who work throughout the Health System, serving as support to the hospital staff and as advocates and friends of the patients. Having more than 800 active volunteers who provide more than 100,000 hours of work each year, GBMC has one of the largest and most productive volunteer service programs in the country. At Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC), we have an extraordinary team of nurses who support our mission by providing the highest quality of care and service to every patient who enters our doors. Our nursing team consists of over 1,100 Medical Center nurses and more than 120 Hospice nurses, with an average length of employment of 10 years. Quiet hours. Rest is an essential part of healing. Quiet hours are from 9pm to 7am. We ask all staff, patients and visitors to help maintain a restful, healing environment for our patients. During this time, please lower your voices, limit visitors at the bedside and place cell phones on vibrate. Visiting hours change depending on the particular unit. Visiting hours are between 12 noon and 8 pm. Visitation will be limited to 2 visitors over the age of 18. If you are visiting a patient in maternity, pediatrics (under age of 15) or at end of life, there may be further accommodations on visiting. If you are visiting a patient in isolation or intensive care, there may be restrictions on visiting.

Quiet hours are from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. each day. Ask the patient's nurse if it is OK to bring plants or flowers to a patient’s room. In some cases, they can increase the risk for infection for patients. Visitors may be asked to leave the hospital if they become disruptive or interfere with the comfort or care of patients, other visitors or staff.
