Browning a5 problems.

In 2012, Browning brought the gun back. Today’s version is called the A5. Its inertia-driven operating system is different from John Browning’s original, and much simpler. Now it will load and fire first shot but once second shot is loaded into chamber, I cant even pull the trigger without switching the saftey on and themn back off. So, I have to fire first shot, switch safety on, off and fire again.When looking at the mag tube, it appears that the mag cap pushes down on the end spacer (movable end cap that the spring fits into) and this then blocks the last shell. Is there some way to fix this on my own. Install a shorter spacer, or follower,etc. Three of the 3" shells work fine as the over all length is shorter than 4 of the 2 3/4" shell.

The camo on stock starting coming off 2 years ago, I called Browning they sent me a new stock. Like.First, grip the gun firmly, that can make a big difference on marginal recoil loads. Lubing the mag tube will help, polishing it may do the trick. Polish the chamber with some 0000 steel wool wrapped around a bore brush and an electric drill. My suggestion would be to visit the browning site . 1st you should be able to find the date of manufacture and perhaps determine a model . 2nd you can download the manual .read it cover to cover .from there you should be able to disassemble the gun and diagnose the problem .One of the biggest differences between the A5 and the old Auto 5 is weight. My “Light 12” Belgian Auto 5 weighed 8 pounds. The 3 ½-inch A5 has an alloy receiver and weighs just 6 ¾ pounds.

Dec 10, 2020 · My gun was not locking back after shooting Browning Dove&Clay loads. Sometimes the bolt would slam back and bite the brass head of the shell in the receiver. I had bought 250 rounds of it. 225 gave me issues at the trap range or dove fields in September.
